Simpson & Partners EV Chargers are Fully compliant with smart Charge Point Regulations 2021
We are proud to announce that all Simpson & Partners EV products are fully compliant with the Smart Charge Point Regulations 2021, ensuring our chargers meet the latest UK government standards for secure, efficient, and intelligent EV charging.
These regulations are designed to enhance smart charging capabilities, ensuring charge points function optimally by managing energy usage, supporting grid stability, and providing users with greater control over their charging experience. By meeting these stringent requirements, Simpson & Partners reinforces its commitment to innovation, reliability, and future proof technology, enabling users to charge with confidence.Unlike many systems that require firmware or app updates to maintain compliance, Simpson & Partners chargers are already built to meet these specifications, offering a seamless, hassle free, and fully compliant charging experience straight out of the box.
With smart charging regulations shaping the future of EV infrastructure, we are dedicated to supporting customers and accelerating the transition to a smarter, greener mobility ecosystem.

With the Smart Charge Point Regulations coming into effect on 30th June 2022, Simpson & Partners products are fully compliant across all aspects, without requiring additional firmware updates or hardware modifications. Looking ahead, we are also working toward full compliance with the additional security regulations, which come into effect on 30th December 2022. These measures are crucial for widespread EV adoption, and we are proud to support both you and your customers through this transition.
As EV adoption accelerates, smart energy systems play a key role in managing the increased electricity demand while enabling the integration of more renewable energy sources. By implementing flexible and intelligent charging regulations, the UK is ensuring that EV charging does not overload the grid but instead supports balanced energy distribution.
Off-peak charging is designed to optimize energy usage by balancing demand and reducing strain on the National Grid. New charge points now feature pre set default charging hours outside peak times, which are weekdays between 8 AM – 11 AM and 4 PM – 10 PM, encouraging EV owners to charge when electricity demand is lower. This helps improve energy distribution across the grid while allowing drivers to benefit from cheaper energy rates, depending on their provider and tariff. However, flexibility remains key, as every EV owner's schedule varies. To accommodate individual needs, the pre-set default settings can be overridden directly in the S&P charger app, ensuring users have full control over their charging patterns while still contributing to a more efficient and sustainable energy system.
To prevent multiple charge points from activating simultaneously, new chargers feature a randomized delay function, a crucial measure for maintaining grid stability. Charging start times will randomly delay by up to 10 minutes, ensuring a balanced energy distribution across the network. While users may notice a slight delay in charging initiation, this controlled mechanism helps optimize load management and prevent sudden power surges. However, flexibility remains key, if needed, the randomized delay can be manually overridden within the S&P app, allowing users to maintain full control over their charging schedule.
These regulations are an essential step toward a smarter, greener EV future, ensuring charge points operate efficiently and sustainably while giving users greater flexibility and control over how and when they charge. By supporting grid stability and intelligent energy management, they play a vital role in integrating EVs into a more resilient and future-proof energy system.
At Simpson & Partners, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of EV charging technology, delivering cutting-edge solutions that not only meet evolving industry standards but actively shape the future of sustainable mobility. Our commitment goes beyond mere compliance, we strive to set new benchmarks in design, reliability, and intelligent energy integration, ensuring that every product we develop is built to empower users, support energy resilience, and enhance the EV experience.
