We are seeking a highly motivated Power Electronics Engineer to drive our technology development and innovation efforts in the Netherlands, with a focus on EV charging infrastructure and battery energy storage systems for both residential and commercial applications. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional with deep expertise in power conversion systems, strong problem-solving abilities, and a passion for advancing sustainable energy and e-mobility solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Lead the design of high-efficiency inverters and rectifiers for EV AC/DC charging and battery storage solutions.
  • System Optimization: Develop and refine power conversion architectures to maximize performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct rigorous simulation, prototyping, and testing of power electronics systems to meet regulatory and safety standards.
  • Component Selection: Specify and evaluate semiconductor devices, magnetics, and thermal management solutions for optimal performance.
  • Firmware & Control Algorithms: Work on control strategies for inverter and rectifier operation, including bidirectional power flow, grid integration, and efficiency enhancements.
  • Compliance & Certifications: Ensure designs meet industry regulations, including CE, UL, and IEC standards for EV and battery applications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, software, and energy storage teams to integrate solutions into complete systems.
  • Innovation & R&D: Stay ahead of emerging wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies (SiC/GaN) and advanced converter topologies.
  • Cost & Manufacturing Efficiency: Optimize designs for scalability, cost reduction, and streamlined production.

Requirements

  • Power Electronics Design: Expertise in DC-DC converters, inverters, rectifiers, and bidirectional power flow systems.
  • Circuit Design & Simulation: Proficiency in LTspice, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent tools for circuit modelling.
  • Wide-Bandgap Semiconductors: Experience with SiC/GaN transistors for high-efficiency power conversion.
  • PCB Design: Ability to design high-power, high-frequency layouts using tools like Altium or KiCad.
  • Control & Embedded Systems: Understanding of DSPs, microcontrollers, and FPGA-based control for real-time operation.
  • Thermal Management: Knowledge of heat dissipation techniques for high-power electronics.
  • Grid Integration & Compliance: Familiarity with V2G/V2H technology, IEC/UL standards, and grid interconnection.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to diagnose circuit failures, optimize designs, and troubleshoot electrical performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams.
  • Project Management: Experience managing timelines, supplier coordination, and product development cycles.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to document designs clearly and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Innovation & Research: Proactive approach to emerging power electronics trends and continuous improvement.
  • Deep understanding of grid integration, battery storage technologies, and Dutch regulatory frameworks.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
