Why Is My Charger Showing a Red or Fault Light?

    2 min read

A red flashing(fault) light means your charger has detected a problem and has safely stopped charging to protect your vehicle and the unit.

    Common reasons

    • Power supply issue (voltage drop or surge).
    • Grounding/earth fault.
    • Charger is too hot.
    • Internal fault with hardware.
    • Loose or damaged wiring connection.

    Steps to fix the issue

    1. Power cycle the charger
      • Switch the charger off at the isolator (the small switch next to the unit).
      • Wait 30 seconds.
      • Switch it back on.
      • See if the red light clears.
    2. If the red light stays on
      • Contact your installer to investigate further.

    Quick summary

    • A red light means a fault has been detected.
    • Try a reset first.
    • If it doesn’t clear, it may be a power or hardware issue — contact your installer.
